Professional E-mail

These e-mail tips can help your organization convey a professional image.

  • Make sure your e-mail messages contain a "friendly" From field. For example, Jane Doe [Adduxis] is better than jdoe@adduxis.com. Your e-mail client program (Microsoft Outlook, for example) will allow you to change this text.
  • Use the To, Cc, and Bcc fields wisely.

    • Put people who receive the message because they must act on it in the To-field.
    • Then, put people who are receiving the message just for their records in the Cc-field.
    • Use the Bcc-field if you are sending a message to recipients who don't know each other. That helps protect their privacy.

Note: In Microsoft Outlook, the Bcc-field is hidden by default. To show the Bcc-field, create a new message, then open the View menu and select Bcc Field.
